Trip to Cincinnati

Since I missed out on R2LA 5 hosted by Mike Senna in California, I made my own trip to Cincinnati to meet up with Daren Murrer. I finally got to see some of the behind-the-scenes action of a dome supplier. The space, time, and effort involved in the run is more than I ever imaged. The detail that goes into making all the domes and rings match up was the most surprising. The spinning process creates slight variations in every dome, so each one is matched up by hand to the pieces that best fit it. The variations are so slight that most people would never notice (millimeters or less), and most would not go to the effort to resolve them, but Daren makes sure that the domes ship in their most optimal form.

While I was there, I got a bunch of other parts and pieces that I will need. Can't wait to get started!

Best of all, we even had real Skyline!
