Join Me for Star Wars Reads Day

This October, libraries and bookstores around the world are celebrating Star Wars Reads Day. If you love reading or Star Wars, I hope you attend one of the hundreds of events taking place.

I'll be making three appearances to celebrate the occasion thanks to two local libraries. In Tacoma on October 5th, I'll be talking about building your own R2 followed by brand new a historical lecture at their Wheelock branch that afternoon. The next weekend, I return to Puyallup library for an encore presentation of new history lecture.

From Golden Age to a Galaxy Far Away: You knew that Star Wars happened "a long time ago", but did you know that much of this classic film was influenced by the 1930s and '40s? Join Cole Horton, astromech builder and Star Wars expert, for a look at how the golden age of Hollywood, classic comic books, space operas, and the Second World War all shaped the Star Wars saga.
